Our clinic is operating on a telephone-only basis for the next few days.  The Ministry of Health is allowing doctors to treat Patients over the phone, instead of having them come in, to help reduce the spread of COVID-19.  For the next few days, there will be NO doctor at the clinic, but you are welcome to speak with Dr. Sheth over the phone anytime during his regular schedule.

Dr. Sheth will call you within 1 to 2 hours, or sooner.

Again, there is NO doctor physically at the clinic, but you CAN speak to Dr. Sheth over the phone anytime during our operating hours:

We are not setting appointments for telephone visits.  Calls are taken on a first-come-first-served basis.  So far the turnaround has been less than 1 hour.

In this digital age, we are able to email your prescriptions, test results, test requisitions, medical notes, or any other document that you might need.  Dr. Sheth will be able to conduct most medical visits over the phone.

If you reach our voicemail, that means both secretaries are on the phone, but we will call you back within a few minutes.

Closing Early on March 16, 2020

Dear Patients,

We are closing at 6pm today, Monday, March 16, 2020.

Tuesday (March 17) and Wednesday (March 18) will be telephone services only.  This means Dr. Sheth will not be physically present at the clinic, but is reachable by phone during our normal business hours (10am to 8pm).

Patient’s are welcome to call 905-770-7143 or email us at info@drsheth.ca (please type your full name and telephone number).

Dr. Sheth usually returns calls within an hour two.

We can still provide prescriptions, test requisitions, counselling, and test results over the phone.  Any documents you need can be sent to you via email.

To reiterate, today (Mon, March 16) we are closing at 6pm.  Tomorrow and Wednesday (March 17 and 18) we are available from 10am to 8pm for telephone visits only.

We apologize for the inconvenience this may cause.  Please go to the hospital or call 911 in the event of an emergency.

Coronavirus Information

Dr. Ricky Sheth Now Able to Conduct Telephone Visits

The Ministry of Health is allowing physicians to care for Patients directly over the telephone temporarily, to help reduce the spread of COVID-19.

Of course, this does not replace in-person care where Dr. Sheth can conduct a physical exam.  However, telephone visits are a useful tool to continue providing care to Patients who are not able to visit the clinic or choose not to.

If you HAVE seen Dr. Sheth before, the process to join the telephone queue is straightforward.  Please call us at 905-770-7143 or email us at info@drsheth.ca.

The secretary will confirm:
  • your phone number
  • email address
  • health card number
  • health card expiry date
Dr. Sheth will call you shortly thereafter.

Please note, the doctor will try his best to help you over the phone.  However, in certain cases, he may still need to do a physical exam. For example, he may need your blood pressure before he can prescribe a particular medication.  Or if you have a sore throat, he may want to swab your throat to test for strep bacteria. Dr. Sheth will try his very best to assist you over the telephone, but in some cases, he may ask you to come in instead.

Frequently Asked Questions:

1)  Who is being tested for COVID-19?  
Answer:  People who meet the following criteria:

  • They have travelled to a COVID-impacted country in the last 14 days OR they have been in contact with an ill person who has recently travelled.
  • They have cold/flu symptoms (fever, dry cough, headache, etc).
2)  Who is conducting these tests?
Answer:  Public Health is arranging these tests.  The tests are physically conducted at a hospital.

3)  How do I get tested?
Answer:  Please call or email our office.  If you fit the criteria, our office will speak to Public Health for you.  We will give them your information and request that they arrange a test for you.  Public Health will call you usually within 1-2 days. They may ask you additional questions.  At that point, if they also feel you should be tested, they will make an appointment for you at your local hospital.  Please isolate yourself from others for 14 days from the onset of symptoms. 4)  Can I just go to the Emergency Room?
Answer:  You should visit the ER if you have severe symptoms.  Please wear a mask, if you have one, to reduce potential spread to other ER Patients.  If you have mild symptoms, please speak to our office first.

5)  I called your clinic number (905-770-7143) but it’s always busy.  Why?
Answer:  We only have 2 phone lines.  If both secretaries are on the phone, your call may not come through for a few minutes.  Please reach out to us by email (or fill out the intake form linked above, if you are new to us).  We will answer emails promptly. Please make sure your full name and phone number is in EACH email you send us.

6)  Is it better if I email you or phone you?
Answer:  Email is better for us.  And it helps us keep track of everyone, to make sure we treat everyone quickly and on a first-come-first-served basis.

7)  Can I still visit the clinic in person?
Answer:  
You are welcome to come in if you do NOT meet the COVID-19 criteria.  For now, we are continuing our normal business hours. However, if this changes, we will notify you via email.  We will also update our website and Google hours. (As mentioned before, if you meet the COVID-19 criteria, please email/call us first for assistance).

9)  What can I do to reduce the spread of this virus?
Answer:

  • Avoid large gatherings for the time being.
  • Sanitize high traffic areas of your home more often than usual (doorknobs, light switches, keyboards, fridge door, remotes, bathrooms, etc).
10)  Does your clinic sell masks, hand-sanitizer, or soap?
Answer:  We do not.

Dr. Sheth’s Family Practice Patients have the ability to make appointments between 12pm and 2pm on Mon, Tues, and Wed.  The rest of his clinic hours are walk-in only (in-person or telephone visits).

Dear Patients of Dr. Rasha Tawfik,

We are grateful that she is referring her Patients to Dr. Ricky Sheth.  Our clinic will be happy to assist Dr. Tawfik and her Patients in this transition in any way we can.  We have been receiving a few calls asking about the process of transferring over.  We have compiled a list of the most asked questions below:

Q:   “I want to meet Dr. Sheth.  When is he available?”

A:  You are welcome to come in on a walk-in basis to see Dr. Sheth.  Please ask the Secretary for a “Meet & Greet”. This is a 15 min appointment where Dr. Sheth takes your medical history and you can ask him any questions that you have.  His walk-in hours are as follows:

Sun:  10am to 6pm

Mon:  10am to 8pm

Tues:  10am to 8pm

Wed:  10am to 8pm

Walk-In is CLOSED 12pm to 2pm on Mon, Tues, Wed.  That is when he takes Family Patient Appointments.  

 

Q:  Can I make an appointment?

A:   Once you sign up with Dr. Sheth as his Family Practice Patient, you will have the ability to make appointments.  Until then, we can see you on a walk-in basis.

 

Q:  How do I sign up?

A:  You can sign an Enrolment Form at the Front Desk.  You can sign this without meeting the doctor, or you can do a Meet & Greet first, and then sign the form after.  It is entirely your choice.

 

Q:  How do I transfer my file over?

A:  There is a “Consent to Disclose” form we can provide you with at the clinic.  We will fax this to Dr. Tawfik’s office to request your medical records.

 

Q:  When I call your phone number, the call doesn’t go through.  Why?

A:  Our office has 2 phone lines.  When both Secretaries are on the phone, it can prevent your call from coming through for a few minutes.  If it is more convenient, please feel free to email us at info@drsheth.ca.

Please do not call our office on Thurs, Fri, or Sat because Dr. Sheth and his 2 Secretaries are not in the office on those days.  On those days, there is another doctor (from a telemedicine company) that uses our space. A telemedicine doctor is a physician who is physically in one city, but is treating Patients in a different city through the computer.  That telemedicine doctor still has the ability to write prescriptions, doctor notes, etc. There is a medical student there, in person, to do any physical exam needed (blood pressure, temperature).  That telemedicine operation is NOT related to Dr. Ricky Sheth in any way.  We don’t share computer systems, we don’t receive each other’s test results, we have separate secretaries.  If you call them on Thurs, Fri, Sat, they will not be able to give you any information about Dr. Sheth or his clinic.
